Plantation High to The Rescue
The annual Harvest Drive
By T'ea harris ([email protected])
It is Thanksgiving and there are families in the Plantation area that don’t have the same privileges as everyone else. So, with the help of Plantation high and other schools and businesses in the plantation area The Harvest drive was put into action to help those in need. Foodstuffs were given such as pancake mix and jugs of juice, and were collected by teachers like Ms. Hoffman the U.S. History teacher. “Our goal is to feed 150 families” She stated in an interview “I think it will greatly impact the community, because it shows that Plantation High takes an interest in the community and in giving back.”. Ms. Hoffman also says that “the expectation is different because instead of asking for general donations, each club was given different donations to give.
Mr. Edwards also was interviewed and he had a few things to say about the harvest drive. “I think that this year’s harvest drive is going to be different because there is going to be a lot more students, buisnesses, and schools envolved.” He stated, “This years harvest drive is going to affect the community because overall 150 families are going to be fed and its also creating a culture of giving back to the community for each club.” He also said that he hopes the harvest drive will eventually merge with Colone’s Closet, ( A foundation made by SGA) and make it a year round project. |
